“Books always win.” I need that on a t-shirt. And a mug. And a billboard. PLASTER IT EVERYWHERE.

I read The Stranger Beside Me when I was a teenager, I think it was even before Ted Bundy was executed. (My parents were of the belief that if we wanted to read something we should read it, and they would deal with the conversations as needed). I think my mom wanted someone to be able to talk to about it. Chilling…I am not sure how audiobook would work for me on this one, since I often listen as I run….or drive…alone.

My parents took the same approach with me growing up and I’m trying to do the same with my boys. I think giving some level of freedom over what they read is what helps cultivate readers.

And yes! Can see this may not be great on audio if you’re running! I have found nonfiction is the only thing that works for me on audio…so generally most of my non fiction is audio, fiction is book.

I am the opposite…I need a pen in my hand with non fiction. Doesn’t work with Audible!

So fair! So many different ways for readers to take shape! I have two dear friends that are dyslexic and only read through listening- I’m always amazed and how much they retain.

I just finished Kin. Trying to get my thoughts together so I can write about it. It was my first Tayari book. Based on your rec., I think I will get the other one you mentioned you liked more than American Marriage. Totally agree, she can write!

I finished it a month ago and still feel like I have a book hangover from it…she’s a master with characters, I feel like I knew them both so deeply. Yes, do Silver Sparrow!
